If you don’t want to watch the whole series, I would recommend starting with the Ninth Doctor, which is what a lot of people do. That’s the beginning of the revival. You get a lot important backstory with Nine and Ten, so definitely don’t just start with Eleven if you can help it. I would start with Nine, definitely. You can skip 1-8 (Classic Who) if you want, though it’s fun to watch. :P But you don’t need to watch it to really understand the show from Nine and onward.

Harry Potter, of course. Though if you’re a fan of HP, you still may not understand. The quote from Deathly Hallows is, of couse, “I open at the close.” That actually used to be my blog title until I went to LeakyCon in 2011 (was it really already a year ago? goodness) Anyway, Andrew Slack was giving this presentation on Imagine Better, and he talked about how we open at the close. The Harry Potter fandom is so full of love and compassion and caring, and this time last year, in a lot of ways, the fandom was coming to a close. When he gave this presentation, the final HP film was coming out in a day. ‘We open at the close’ basically means that our hearts open up at the close and it speaks of the fandom’s compassion and love and what we can all accomplish together, even as our fandom theoretically nears it’s end. Of course, the HP fandom will never end (we’re wizards, we’ll party forever!), but you catch my drift.

Now let me speak directly to you, anon.

Just think about the kind of person you’re choosing to be. Think about it for just a minute. Hiding behind your anonymous mask so that you can say hurtful and hateful things to people who are most likely complete stranger to you? It’s horrible. Think of the damage you could cause by saying things like this. Tumblr has a history of users with a lot of self-confidence issues. A lot of people with a lot of very real problems are on this site. I’ve been dealing with depression, anxiety, and body image issues for years.

I, myself, have reached a point in my life where I am confident and don’t give a fuck what you say. However, how the fuck would you know that? You don’t. For all you know, this could cause me serious emotional trauma and cause me to spiral into self-destruction like things like this used to do to me. 

And maybe that’s your intention. Maybe you’re just an awful person.

But you need to think about what you’re saying because you never know when a message like this could be the last straw for someone.

And really, I feel bad for you. There are a lot of people in this world who feel the need to bully and be rude to other people to make themselves feel better. I feel sorry for you.

Anyway, like I said, I will no longer be posting any messages of this variety.
