…..you didn’t realize Jack was in love with the Doctor?

He hung around for 150 years waiting for him. He joined an organization that tortured and used and abused and hated him just so he could have the biggest chance of finding him. He took over that organization and changed it in the name of the Doctor. He died many, many times in the name of the Doctor. He looked to the Doctor’s legacy and values in order to change his own life and his own ways. He just sort of took when the Doctor disregarded him and scolded him because he loved him so much he believed he was right. He tried to adopt every aspect of the Doctor that he could, up to and including his propensity to run away when things got shitty. He was captured and tortured for the Doctor. He went to the Doctor without question every time he was needed, even though he knew it would hurt the people he loved on Earth and that he’d probably die multiple times. Jack is in love with the Doctor to a fault. And unlike Martha, he never had the power to back away and make the decision to move on before he could get too hurt to heal.
